Sober Living treats alcohol and drug addiction, behavioural addictions and co-occurring mental-health conditions in a private residential setting in Etobicoke, Toronto. Most programs run 30, 45, 60 or 90 days, starting with medically supervised detox when withdrawal is expected, followed by individual, group and family therapy and a written aftercare plan.

If you are comparing rehab centres in Toronto, the most useful question is not “which substance?” but “what level of care does this person need right now?” Our clinical team answers that during a free, confidential assessment, then recommends a program length based on your substance use, withdrawal risk, mental health and home situation. The table below is a starting guide, not a prescription.

Drug rehab in Toronto: programs at a glance

Substance or condition Typical program Typical length
Alcohol Medical detox with 24/7 supervision, then residential therapy Detox usually lasts several days; residential 30 to 90 days
Fentanyl, oxycodone, morphine, codeine Medically supervised withdrawal or starting opioid agonist treatment, including our Sublocade program, plus residential therapy 30 to 90 days; medication usually continues after discharge
Benzodiazepines Gradual, physician-supervised taper with residential therapy 30 to 90 days; a taper may continue after discharge with a physician
Cocaine and crystal meth Residential therapy with medical monitoring of sleep, mood and physical health 30 to 90 days
Prescription drugs, cannabis, ketamine Assessment-led detox where needed, then residential therapy 30 to 90 days
Concurrent disorders Integrated addiction and mental-health treatment 30 to 90 days; complex needs may call for a longer stay
Depression, anxiety, burnout Residential mental-health program 30 to 90 days
Gambling and other behavioural addictions Behavioural addiction treatment 30 to 90 days

Safety first: withdrawal from alcohol or benzodiazepines can be life-threatening, and opioid withdrawal raises overdose risk if use restarts. Please do not stop suddenly on your own; speak to a doctor or call our admissions team first. In an emergency, call 911.

How do I choose the right drug rehab in Ontario?

Choose a program that can safely manage withdrawal, treats any mental-health condition at the same time, and plans for life after discharge. When you compare drug rehab options in Ontario, ask each provider:

  • Is detox medically supervised on site? For alcohol, benzodiazepines and opioids this is a safety question, not a comfort one.
  • Are mental-health conditions treated in the same program? Depression, anxiety and trauma often drive substance use and need integrated care.
  • Who is on the clinical team? Ask for the roles and registration details of the clinicians who will provide care, and check them on Ontario’s public registers.
  • Is the plan individual? A fixed curriculum suits some people; many do better with a plan adjusted week by week.
  • What happens after discharge? Look for a written relapse-prevention plan, family involvement and ongoing check-ins.
  • How is cost handled? Ask whether the team will help verify your private insurance or benefit-plan coverage before admission.

Publicly funded programs are also available across Ontario, and ConnexOntario (1-866-531-2600) can help you find them. Our team is happy to talk through whether private residential care or another option is the better fit.
